In the Middle Ages, the peas were boiled into a mushy paste called “Hamburgerschmecke”, which was then mixed with meat and bread to create a kind of sausage-like food. It wasn’t until around 1730 when the first recorded use of the phrase “hamburger” appeared – referring specifically to sausages made of ground beef.

In hockey, a “hat trick” is when a player scores three goals in a single game. But where did this term come from?

There are a few theories out there as to the origins of the term “hat trick.” One theory is that it comes from cricket, where a bowler who takes three wickets in three consecutive balls is said to have taken a “hat trick.”

Another theory is that the term originated in Ireland, where it was said that a player who scored three goals in a game was worthy of a hat being thrown onto the field by a spectator.

Whatever the origins of the term, it’s now a part of hockey culture and is used to describe when a player scores three goals in a game. So the next time you hear someone say “hat trick,” you’ll know they’re talking about a player scoring three goals in a hockey game.

Have you ever wondered why they call them buffalo wings? Though there are many theories out there, the most likely explanation is the dish’s place of origin. Buffalo wings were created in 1964 at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. Since then, they have become a staple of American cuisine. Though they can be made with chicken breast, the traditional method is to use chicken wings. The wings are first fried and then coated in a sauce made of vinegar, cayenne pepper, and butter. This gives them their characteristic spicy and tangy flavor. Buffalo wings are usually served with blue cheese dressing and celery sticks. So the next time you’re enjoying a plate of buffalo wings, remember their humble beginnings in Buffalo, New York.
