It is weird that a hamburger does not have ham on it but people call it a hamburger. Now, this is something that we know- every weird thing has a story behind it.
The American hamburger is thought to have gotten its name from a dish called “Hamburg Style Beef” or “Hamburg Steak” that arrived in the United States from Hamburg, Germany, in the 19th century. The dish consisted of sliced meat eaten raw.
As the burger came from the city called Hamburg so people named it Hamburger.
