Many people are familiar with the country music singer Hank Williams Jr., but may not know why he is nicknamed “Bocephus.” Bocephus is actually Hank Williams Jr.’s given name – his full name is Hank Williams Jr. Hank Williams Sr., Hank Jr.’s father, was a famous country music singer as well. Hank Williams Sr. nicknamed his son Bocephus after a ventriloquist dummy he saw on a Grand Ole Opry show. The dummy’s name was also Bocephus.
