The national bird of the United States is the bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus). The bald eagle gets its name from the white head and tail feathers that distinguish it from other eagles. The scientific name for the bald eagle is Haliaeetus leucocephalus, which means “sea eagle with a white head.” The bald eagle is a large bird of prey, with a wingspan that can reach up to 7.5 feet. The adult bald eagle has a dark brown body and a white head and tail. The female bald eagle is larger than the male, with a wingspan that can reach up to 8.5 feet. The bald eagle is found in North America, from Alaska and Canada to northern Mexico. The bald eagle is a powerful and majestic bird, and it is no wonder that it is the national bird of the United States.

In North America, the term “bald eagle” refers to the Haliaeetus leucocephalus, a majestic bird of prey with a white head and tail. The name “bald” actually comes from an old English word, “balde,” which means white. So, when you see a bald eagle, you are seeing a bird that is mostly white.

In North America, the bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is a bird of prey that typically lives near large bodies of water. These birds get their name from the Adult’s white head, which is in contrast to their dark body. The scientific name for the bald eagle is Haliaeetus leucocephalus, which literally translates to “sea eagle with a white head.”

The bald eagle was once on the brink of extinction, but thanks to conservation efforts, they have made a comeback! In 1940, there were only 400 nesting pairs of bald eagles in the contiguous United States. However, by 1995 there were approximately 5,000 nesting pairs.

Bald eagles are a symbol of strength, freedom, and patriotism in the United States. These birds are truly unique and amazing creatures!
