Have you ever wondered how Buffalo Wild Wings got its name? The restaurant was founded in 1982 in Columbus, Ohio, and was originally called Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck. The name was inspired by the Buffalo Wings that were created at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. The restaurant was renamed Buffalo Wild Wings in 1998.
There are a few different theories out there as to why Buffalo Wild Wings is called B-Dubs. The most popular theory is that it’s a shortened version of the restaurant’s original name, Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck. Weck is a type of sandwich popular in Buffalo, New York, where the chain started. Another theory is that the B stands for Buffalo, the city where the chain was founded, and the Dubs comes from the restaurant’s signature Buffalo wings. Whatever the origin of the name, there’s no doubt that B-Dubs is a beloved chain among wing lovers.
The name “B-Dubs” is a play on the word “be dubs.” It’s a clever way to say that B-Dubs is dubs (or twice as) good.
