The goosebumps that we experience are actually a natural reflex that our body does in response to certain stimuli. When we are cold, our body will automatically try to make us warmer by creating goosebumps. The goosebumps will make the hair on our body stand up, which in turn will create insulation and trap heat next to our skin.
Goose bumps exist in almost every living animal, including us humans. It helps us provide a defensive mechanism against enemies and is also a useful feature for us in determining the temperature of our body and our surroundings.
Goosebumps are a type of skin reaction that happens when a person is scared or excited.
The word goosebumps is derived from the Old English word “gosanbrycce.” The term was first used in 1772.
